Hazen School District is taking applications for the following positions which are open until filled:


POSITION TITLE:  Paraprofessional - Elementary

 REPORTS TO:  Principal 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to work collaboratively with others in grade-level, school, and District teams

  2. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

  3. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

  4. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.

  5. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, meals, transportation, and field trips.

  6. Reads to students, listens to students read, and/or participates in other forms of oral communication with students.

  7. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

  8. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.

  9. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

  10. Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.

  11. Performs specialized services to students as required by specific responsibilities.

POSITION TITLE:  Paraprofessional - High School

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified as Highly Qualified by meeting one of the following criteria:

  • Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester credit hours)

  • Possesses an associate's (or higher) degree

  • Obtained a passing score of 457 on the Educational Testing Services (ETS) Parapro Assessment

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
